The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to lead, support and continuously improve the quality planning activities including: Customer and supplier activities, assisting in Corrective Action activities, quality reporting, acting as a communication link between KEI and the customer, and pursuing continuous improvement.

  • Lead the development and insure the integrity of the APQP documentation set
  • Collaborate with other internal and external (both customer and supply base) functions to pursue Quality issue resolution.
Key Performance Objectives

Short Term (0 to 3 months)
  • Learn KEJ Quality Management System requirements
  • Learn Customer Requirements and Quality flow downs
  • Take co-ownership of the customer meetings, data for the meetings, action items
  • Learn Quality and Operations documentation and processes
  • Learn and provide input to the MRB and NPI process
  • Learn and adopt Kimball Electronics philosophies and culture
Midterm (3 to 12 months)
  • Co-own Corrective Action to closure internally and externally
  • Reduce overall PPM and improve internal yields by implementing data driven decisions and actions/poke yokes to improve customer metrics and reduce COPQ
  • Manage customer RMA's and communications of complaints
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of PFMEA and Control Plans and First Article Inspections
  • Develop and submit PPAP / product approval documents for new/changed products to meet customer requirements
  • Participate in supplier audits / supplier development, as needed
  • Review customer documentation and determine process/flow and equipment/tooling requirements
  • Works with Quality Department to improve efficiency/effectiveness of inspection methods/processes through improved methods, improved manufacturing processes, and/or identification of resource needs (personnel, technology, etc.)
  • Trains others on quality related requirements, procedures, methods, etc.
