Access Laser Company is seeking a full-time Quality Engineer to work with the Quality Team to support the production of laser systems.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage the CAPA process, including:
    • Develop a detailed, methodical, and effective CAPA resolution process
    • Be a first responder for quality related production issues. Identify problems, recurrences, and trends.
    • Initiate CAPAs to address identified problems and recurrences for issues identified in our Production, Supply Chain or Service Departments.
    • Lead or assist with CAPA investigations. Oversee implementation and validate implemented corrective actions.
    • Report status and major changes of the CAPA process to QRB, facilitate critical decision making, assist in the assembly of effective CAPA-teams
  • Manage Supplier Quality processes, including:
    • Engage with suppliers and internal Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure product manufacturability and define product qualification strategies. Ensure early involvement of suppliers in Design & Engineering projects, and in change orders that require configuration and process changes in manufacturing.
    • Address individual and systemic quality issues to suppliers (RTV & SCAR) and stay in regular communication until solutions are implemented. Involve / notify appropriate engineers and managers. Report on key actions and issue closure
    • Conduct visits to key suppliers. Plan and lead supplier quality audits
    • Develop a relationship with suppliers to understand their needs and requirements.
    • Establish supply chain quality related metrics and KPI's, design monitoring dashboards and monitor the quality performance of all suppliers.
    • Participate in new supplier qualification processes
  • Lead / participate in quality improvement projects, including:
    • Utilize quality tools such as Gage R&R studies, process capability studies, SPC and design of experiments
    • Lead or assist with the development of FMEAs and control plans
  • Assist inspection team to create internal and supplier inspection plans.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Standard Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or similar accredited degree, or equivalent experience
  • Over 3 years of experience in a quality engineering role in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel 1 - 2 weeks per quarter.
  • Audit experience, internal or supplier, is required
  • Ability to develop and administer quality related projects
  • Familiarity with Material Review Board (MRB) process and handling of nonconforming materials
  • Experience with CAPA process and can facilitate effective Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA)
  • Experience with creating documented work instructions and other quality related process documents.
  • Experience with developing and reporting KPIs and other quality data metrics
  • Experience in using PLM and ERP systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and desire to work in collaborative team environments
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Highly Desirable Additional Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with Agile, Product Lifecycle Management
  • High proficiency in computer technology and systems operations
  • Strong competence in the use of Python programming language for data extraction and analysis would be a distinct advantage
