Job Overview:
We are currently hiring for someone to join our team in St. Louis, MO as an Youth Peer Specialist. In this role you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive support to clients in their journey toward recovery from mental health and substance abuse disorders. The Peer Support Specialist will be responsible for conducting intake/screening/assessment processes, developing individualized treatment plans, facilitating group and individual sessions, maintaining positive relationships with clients and referral sources, and representing the agency within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete intake/screening/assessment processes within designated time frames.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with DMH/CARF guidelines.
  • Maintain timely correspondence, including expense reports and grant reports.
  • Participate in clinical staffing/treatment meetings and provide feedback on pertinent cases.
  • Provide mentoring sessions and assist clients in developing outside support systems.
  • Ensure smooth transitions for clients moving into the Alumni Association.
  • Assist clients in developing daily structured schedules and monitor progress.
  • Document all services provided in accordance with standards.
  • Correct any file/charting deficiencies promptly.
  • Facilitate group and individual sessions as scheduled.
  • Track outcomes for the Alumni Association and arrange pro-social activities.
  • Represent the agency professionally within the community.
  • Handle crisis situations as they arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or executive team members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of caseload management and rehabilitation methods.
  • Understanding of mental health and substance abuse disorders.
  • Familiarity with legal requirements and court procedures related to treatment.
  • Ability to establish rapport with diverse client populations.
  • Some knowledge of supervisory and training techniques.
  • Aptitude to evaluate services and provide input.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
  • Hold the credentials of a Qualified Addiction Professional as defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. (MCB)
    OR
  • Meet the requirements for registration, supervision, and professional development set forth by either:
    • The Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc.
    • The appropriate board of professional registration with the Department of Economic Development for licensure as a psychologist, professional counselor, or social worker.
