West Central Behavioral Health is looking to hire someone prepared to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of others? Do you want to share your life experiences with mental health and/or addiction to aid others in their recovery? If so, we want you to join our professional and dedicated team of clinicians. With the mental health center staff, you will assist clients achieve their recovery goals.
The Peer Support Specialist uses his/her experience of recovery from mental health and/or addiction, plus skills learned in formal training to deliver services in mental health settings to provide mind-body recovery and resiliency. The Peer Support Specialist works as part of an interdisciplinary team for clients who require community-based services and assists individuals with engaging in services and supports as part of the recovery plan.
Responsibilities:
The Peer Support Specialists works with clients to:
be community based
talk about different systems and what treatment worked for them
transport to different places within the community
utilize specific interventions designed to support and meet recovery goals.

Requirements
- High School Diplomas or GED
- Life experience that increases awareness of the needs of adults with serious mental health illness
- Have working knowledge of issues faced by those who experience serious mental illness
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Develop effective working relationships
- Ability to lift, push and/or pull 10 lbs.
- Ability to travel in connection with the job duties assigned
- Have and maintain a valid state driver's license
- Have reliable transportation
