Sr. Software Development Engineer, Device Farm

Amazon, Seattle, Washington, us, 98127

Description

Device Farm is building the world's largest cloud of real physical smart devices @AWS. With millions of developers writing apps, AWS Device Farm brings devices closer to the developers by providing them instantaneous remote access to real devices in AWS cloud.

As a Sr. SDE, you will be part of an inter-disciplinary team of Software Development Engineers, Systems Development Engineers and Network Engineers who are building a next generation device cloud to support a rapidly growing variety of device types, form factors, architectures, communication protocols and programming languages.

The underlying systems are complex and there are opportunities to work at all levels from device engineering, to large scale distributed systems. In addition to the technical challenges provided by the innovative use cases that we are working on, you will also learn how to lead a service that meets AWS’s high bar for availability, scalability, and security. This is an incredible opportunity of defining the technical vision of a fast-evolving AWS service, and make significant business impact.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr. SDE, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of complex systems, with direct responsibility for coding the most complex sections. You will lead others, delegating coding tasks or the design of sub-components to more junior engineers. As an SDE III, mentoring others is considered a key responsibility and marker of success.
