CAS is currently seeking a Software Engineer- Cheminformatics for our Technology Team. This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Job Accountabilities : As a Cheminformatics Software Engineer, develop software applications, services, systems, and APIs, creating or enhancing CAS content, content-pipelines, tools, and workflow solutions in a complex content-curation ecosystem. Work within an Agile Delivery team creating reusable framework/components for content-processing pipelines that provide capabilities to search and display chemical information. Develop test-automation, deployment-automation and observability for software applications and systems across various operating domains, continuing to enhance the existing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery platform for Content Technology. Collaborate with teammates and product owners grooming backlogs of epics and stories for upcoming development sprints. Connect across the organization in our Communities of Practice to build influential working relationships, preparing your career for tomorrow. Qualifications: 4-year degree in computer science, engineering, or in a scientific discipline like chemistry or biology, or equivalent experience. Some coursework / academic training in chemistry or a related discipline required. Cheminformatics or Bioinformatics Development: minimum of 2 years of experience Java, JavaScript and/or Python Development: minimum 2 years of writing software, preferably in an enterprise application environment Quality Engineering: some experience with and/or knowledge of Automated Testing, Test-driven Development, debugging, troubleshooting, and optimizing code/automation. Experience with development and integration tools is a plus, i.e., IntelliJ, Eclipse, Cloud9, Git/Gitlab, Code Commit, Code Pipeline, Maven, Jenkins, Unit Tests. Pair Programming: willingness to pair with others during programming, as it makes sense. Clear Communication and Healthy Dialogue: candidates must be comfortable and eager to discuss work items and issues in team settings. Passion for Development: preference for candidates that actively learn on the job and outside of work.
