A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for developing software solutions for our family of satellite avionics and payload data processing systems. This role involves creating custom real-time system monitoring and power management software, preparing Linux board support packages for customer flight applications, and interfacing with sensors, communication buses, radios, and communications security (COMSEC) equipment. Collaboration with hardware and FPGA engineers is essential to deliver and document integrated, rugged, and reliable Low-Size, Weight, and Power (Low-SWaP) products to aerospace customers. Software Design and Implementation:

Develop embedded software using tools associated with multi-core application processors integrated with FPGA, including Xilinx, Microsemi, Microchip, and Vorago. Processor Architecture Experience:

Work with ARM Cortex and RISC-V processor architectures to create effective software solutions. C/C++ Development:

Utilize C/C++ for software development in embedded Linux and other real-time operating systems (RTOS), ensuring high performance and reliability. Linux Configuration:

Manage Linux system and kernel configuration, including operation and bootloaders such as grub and U-Boot. Networking and Security Protocols:

Implement networking and security protocols (IP, TLS, IPsec) at the RFC level to ensure secure communications. Interconnect Standards:

Work with interconnect standards such as SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, PCI, PCIe, Ethernet, and SpaceWire for effective system integration. Cryptography Systems Management:

Manage industry-standard symmetric and public-key cryptography systems (AES, RSA, ECDSA, ECDH) as necessary. Documentation and Testing:

Participate in the design, documentation, development, and testing of highly reusable embedded software. Requirements Translation:

Understand customer and system requirements, translating them into software requirements for implementation. Design Presentation:

Prepare and present software designs to peers, internal stakeholders, and external customers. Integration and Debugging:

Engage in the integration, debugging, and testing of software and hardware, ensuring smooth operation. Feature Tracking:

Track software development features, tasks, and defects throughout the release process. Build and Release Management:

Manage the software build and release process, ensuring timely delivery of updates. YOU'RE AWESOME AT:

Embedded Software Development:

Strong experience in embedded software design and implementation, particularly in aerospace applications. Complex Document Analysis:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents and specifications. Sensitive Communication:

Skilled in responding effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints with professionalism and clarity. Cyber Security Knowledge:

Familiarity with writing Embedded C code that incorporates cyber security and encryption measures. Collaborative Teamwork:

Able to work effectively in a team environment, contributing to both individual and group success. WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science) is required. 5-7 years' related experience in developing embedded software. Experience with parallel-processing frameworks such as OpenCL and CUDA is desirable. Able to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The starting base pay range for this position is $125,000 - $150,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, Innoflight offers a competitive compensation package that includes Profit-Sharing Bonus, Cash Performance Bonus, and a robust benefits package.
