Summary:

Assist in the nursing care of the endoscopic patient by performing duties and related activities, within scope of practice, for endoscopic procedures, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Additionally, performs all aspects of scope cleaning and high level disinfection. Responsible for the chemical monitoring of the Automated Endoscope Reprocessor (AER).

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

Education:

Required: Post High School vocational/specialized training in a medical field or 2 years equivalent experience

Experience:

Required: One (1) year healthcare experience. Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a GI, OR or relevant area.

Skills:

Working knowledge of proper scope cleaning and sterilization; setting up rooms; bedside assistance with patients; computer skills and patient scheduling, a plus. Appropriate prioritization and planning skills, while achieving safety and quality in a high volume environment; Engaging and effective communication and service skills; Adherence to policy and procedures; Process improvement oriented; Self-initiative to assist with whatever is needed.

Licenses/Certifications:

Required: American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) BLS certification. Preferred: PCT, MA or CNA Certification
