About the Position
The Business Systems Engineer is responsible for technical support for the firm's Financial, Human Resources, Recruiting and Professional Development, and Conflicts systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Finance and Conflicts Systems
- Oversees and ensures the continuity of the firm's financial and accounting systems, the integrity of financial data, and safeguards and controls
- Develop dashboards, reports, and self-service interfaces using the following tools: MS SQL, SSRS, SAP BI Suites (Crystal Reports, Lumira, Web Intelligence), Visual Studio, Aderant Expert Administration/Full suite of Aderant products including, but not limited to, Expert Billing, AP, EA Pro, Design Studio, Disbursements, Collections, Entity Manager, General Ledger, Rates, and other analysis tools
- Create ad-hoc financial reports and queries using MS SQL and other analysis tools
- Utilize a proactive approach; seek ways to improve current processes to maximize productivity, efficiency, and accuracy in all aspects of financial reporting, while helping the firm to adopt best practices
- Technical lead and primary support for all business intelligence, custom reporting, budgeting/forecasting, matter planning and profitability modules in: Aderant, Intellistat, Iridium, Chrome River, Peer Monitor
- Work directly with Aderant or consultants to develop/customize templates used for billing purposes
- Serve as technology lead for various Finance team projects, software implementations, integrations, and financial systems
- Responsible for the consistency and integrity of all data feeds in/out of existing Finance systems to financial institutions or various firm systems
- Oversee vendor security and access to the firm's financial systems network
- Technical lead on the development of new business intake procedures and matter life cycle standards for the Conflicts team
- Involvement in the implementation, upgrade, functional and technical
maintenance of HR and Recruiting systems applications, ensuring continuing
operational quality - Primary technical contact and lead on all viDesktop products, including the recruiting and
professional development systems - Primary technical contact and lead on all UKG products, including PeopleDoc
- Serve as technology lead for integrations or upgrades for PerformYard and Emtrain
- Assist with pulling data/reporting functionality from all HR systems
- Oversee system security by authorizing access to users through design and/or
modification of security profiles, adjusting as needed for changing requirements
for responsible systems. - Provide technical and application support to application users, coordinate and provide
end-user training as necessary - Maintain up to date system/process documentation and procedural guidelines
- Analyze system performance discrepancies and recommend improvements
- Identify and recommend production customizations and enhancements
- Collaborate on design, document and implement system updates/upgrades, make
recommendations to improve workflow, enhance reporting and analytics and positively
impact overall operational effectiveness. - Any other projects and duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Proficient in Microsoft SQL, Visual Studio, SSIS/SSRS - VBStudio, Outlook, Excel, Word
- Understand relational database concepts, data modeling, and business processes
- Aderant experience preferred
- Law firm experience required
- 5+ years of experience

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact and communicate professionally with all levels of firm personnel.
Knowledge of structured query language (SQL), and in-depth knowledge of financial, time entry, budgeting and cost recovery applications such as Elite, E-Billing Hub, Chrome River, Data fusion and DTA/Intapp Time.

Compensation
Allen Matkins is an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers a competitive compensation & benefits package. The anticipated base salary range for this full-time role is $120,000 - $160,000 per year. Actual salary will depend upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, job-related skills, qualifications, and location.
The base salary range displayed on the job posting reflects the estimated range for new hire salaries for the position. The actual offered base salary will be determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, job-related skills and qualifications. The pay range is subject to change at any time dependent on a variety of internal and external business factors.
