ABOUT THE SMOKIES: The Knoxville Smokies make their debut in their new state-of-the-art stadium, Covenant Health Park, in 2025. Now located in historic Downtown Knoxville, the Smokies remain the proud Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The Knoxville Smokies are operated by Boyd Sports, LLC.
DESCRIPTION: The Promotions & Entertainment Intern helps develop and execute direct marketing and advertising strategies of the Knoxville Smokies. The position assists the implementation of promotional campaigns through social media. They will also assist in the development and coordination of all in-game elements at each Smokies home game. This includes and is not limited to, pre-game performances, ballpark experiences, mascot interactions, in-game contests, and in-game recognitions. The intern assists with all aspects of our game day and non-game day productions. Candidate will serve as a leader of our Promotion Team on game days. This position collaborates with leaders to provide an extraordinary live experience to all of our guests, employees, performers, and clients. The position will also be eager and readily available to be part of videos and skits when needed. The Promotions & Entertainment Intern will report to the Assistant General Manager of Marketing & Entertainment, and will work closely with all department leads to assist in maximizing opportunities to drive a deeper connection with our fan base.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Create/edit materials for video packages as needed for the video board and social media, especially TikTok
-Assist in graphic design for the Knoxville Smokies including for social media, website content, video board content, etc.
-Work closely with the Assistant General Manager of Marketing & Entertainment on preparation of all related in-game content and entertainment
-Day-to-day management of National Anthem singers, performances, ceremonial first pitches, mascots, pregame and in-game run of show
-Monitor social media traffic, including performance of all individual content pieces, and use that data to influence strategy
-Actively participate in the creative development process
-Provide support on video production location shoots and outside events at Covenant Health Park
-Serve as a liaison for guests to Covenant Health Park & Smokies Baseball
-Attend mascot and tabling events in the community
-Assist in-game entertainment and pressbox duties during Smokies games
-Operate control room equipment for outside events at Covenant Health Park
-Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
-Experience working in a creative and/or media environment
-Proficient in Microsoft Office
-General knowledge in Adobe Suite (preferably Photoshop and Premiere)
-Solid understanding of traditional and non-traditional media landscape
-Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
-Candidates must be creative, enthusiastic, willing to learn, and self-driven
-Demonstrate the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
-Willing and able to work all Smokies home games, flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
