The Chicago White Sox are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our Baseball Operations team for the 2025 season. In this role you will assist with day-to-day operations across the front office. You will get exposure across Baseball Operation departments including Major League Strategy, Major League Operations, and Research & Development. This is an internship, running February - October. Responsibilities:
This role will primarily be geared towards supporting the Major League team with day-to-day preparation, using strong baseball knowledge to assist with:
- Collecting statistics for scouting reports, identifying patterns in player performance and team tendencies
- Providing written evaluations and insights for the coaching staff, helping shape game strategies
- Research and analysis to guide player development at the Major League level
- Supporting on-field video and data collection and operating game-prep technology
- Supporting departmental administrative tasks
- Contributing to player evaluation processes through review of video and data
- Conducting ad-hoc research and analysis on players or the game of baseball in general
- Working on areas like data acquisition, organization, and cleaning, as well as modeling and visualization
- Presenting research findings to front office members, coaches, or players
- Providing logistical support during major baseball events like the Draft or Trade Deadline
- - Passion for baseball, with excellent reasoning, problem-solving, creative thinking, and communication skills
- - Strong interpersonal skills; you must be comfortable collaborating with all levels of staff, including players
- - Ability to work independently, self-direct tasks, and manage multiple projects with attention to detail
- - Strong oral, written and visual communication, and presentation skills
- - Able to multitask and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- - Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the baseball calendar
- - Ability to interact professionally with players, coaches, front office and support staff
- - Experience working in professional and/or collegiate baseball
- - Microsoft Office proficiency
- - Fluent or conversational Spanish
- - Proficiency in SQL, R, and/or Python
- - Experience working with sports technology, video, and/or data collection
- - Playing background and ability to support on-field work (batting practice, hitting fungos, infield routines, etc.)
- - Experience building models and/or making rigorous predictions about on-field outcomes
