POSITION Senior Staff Accountant
REPORTS TO Assistant Controller

WHO YOU ARE You are a detail-oriented and reliable professional with a solid working knowledge of multi-state sales tax regulations and general ledger accounting principles. You take pride in your ability to manage financial data with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring regulatory filings are submitted on time and without error. You possess strong problem-solving skills and are proactive in independently researching tax and accounting-related challenges as they arise.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
Your daily responsibilities will vary based on tax filing deadlines and general accounting needs. At the beginning of each month, you will reconcile sales with the corresponding sales tax collected. You will collaborate with a third-party service to prepare and remit taxes, ensuring all filings are accurate and timely. Once filings are complete, you will prepare and post journal entries to record the sales taxes filed. Throughout the month, you will serve as a resource for tax and licensing-related inquiries from other teams and research and resolve tax issues as they arise.
In addition to tax-related duties, you will play an active role in general accounting tasks, including preparing and filing census reports, reconciling bank statements, researching accounts receivable balances, and supporting corporate insurance coverage. You will also assist with e-commerce-related activities and perform system testing during software upgrades to ensure accuracy and functionality.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• At least 2 years of experience processing multi-state sales tax is required.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of creating, posting, and reconciling journal entries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is preferred, and strong Excel skills are required. Knowledge of pivot tables and experience working with large data files is a plus.
• Effective time management skills to meet deadlines and ensure accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams and third-party vendors.
• Critical thinking skills to investigate and explain general ledger transactions.
