Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in an emergent care environment. Able to recognize, triage, assess, and effectively treat life-threatening conditions.
Reports to: Director of ER
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required License/Certification
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
PALS within 90 days of date of hire
Handle with Care within one year of date of hire Conscious Sedation competency completion required within 90 days of date of hire
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of VA, or Compact licensure as a Registered Nurse which includes the Commonwealth of VA, and in good standing with the Board.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum Work Experience
One year of previous experience in an ER as an RN strongly preferred.
Ability to regularly accept on-call assignments and ability to report to hospital within 30 minutes of notification.
