Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer – Software Integrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.

C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The position requires previous experience integrating separate software components into a single system. The candidate must be able to write clear, concise system installation and configuration instructions and establish and maintain good working relationships with software developers, system administrators, and analysis and test engineers. Occasional travel, including support for installation and checkout at customer sites, will be required. Intermittent non-standard work hours are possible.

Essential Functions:

Hands-on experience with DoD integration processes

Agile and DevOps methodologies

Automated test tools

Read and troubleshoot application source code

Work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change

Knowledge/expertise in the C2BMC concept of operations and user interface

Experience writing installation manuals

Implementing, updating, and maintaining the C2BMC Automation pipeline to allow automated C2BMC scenario execution capability without an operator in the loop

Installation and configuration of Linux and Windows HW platforms from the OS to the C2BMC-developed applications

Documentation and verification of all installation and configuration steps in the documentation to be delivered to the customer

Develop installation scripts to automate the system installation

Develop test plans/procedures for automated software integration test conduct, be responsible for integration/execution, detailed data analysis, and preparation of software test reports

Coordinate execution of automated and manual SW integration tests to verify system operation

Work with software developers as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during software integration and submit problem reports for errors found

Responsible for implementing all Information Assurance directives on the systems, including running IA scans

Lead, task, and coordinate daily integration activities with other local team members

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 8 years of relevant experience, or 6 years experience with a Masters’ Degree, or 4 years experience with a PhD, or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered

Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start

Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs

DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required to start.

Strong technical skills in the following are required:

Jenkins Orchestrator and Jenkins scripts

Integrating applications on Windows and Unix/Linux platforms

VMWare systems administration and installation

Experience with Information Assurance policies and procedures and the ability to apply IA requirements to an existing system

Experience with scripting languages:

PowerShell/Bash/Korn (developing, debugging, and maintaining)

Experience developing automated installation scripts

Use of Git Version Control System

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience VM Horizon View is a plus

Familiarity with Java and object-oriented development a plus

Experience integrating mission systems with simulation frameworks a plus

Flexible Work Arrangements

Salary Range: $124,900 - $187,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
