Position Type: Contracted Date Posted: 7/10/2024 Location: Grand Blanc High School Closing Date: Until Filled District: Grand Blanc Community Schools CTE Construction Trades Instructional/Lab Assistant $10.00 - $17.00 per hour based on experience Job Summary: CTE Lab Assistant is responsible for supporting students and program instructors within the high school Career and Technical Education classroom/labs. Responsible for assisting instructors in classroom and lab environments by performing a variety of supportive activities within a diverse population of students. General assistance and coordination in all functions in the Career and Technical Education laboratories. Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of industry related lab environments/curriculum. Includes performing analyses: setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment and maintaining stock supplies. May provide direction to students in labs and associate equipment, supervise students to ensure a safe working environment. The CTE Career Cluster assignment will be determined based on the needs of the CTE. Essential Duties: 1. Supports the faculty in setup, instruction and maintenance of lab areas 2. Assists in demonstrations and hands on skill training 3. Assists in monitoring students in lab and classroom exercises/exams, reporting all student safety issues to program instructor 4. Assists with supervision of students during classroom/lab activities, emergency drills, assemblies and field trips 5. Implements curriculum materials under the supervision of a program instructor 6. Provides routine lab support Including all aspects of lab safety and preparedness 7. Cleaning, inspection and maintenance equipment and supplies 8. Mentors students within the CTE Career Cluster and programs 9. Works with individual/small/large groups of students to reinforce instruction and support student learning 10. Prepares and Inventories supplies 11. Keeps current with new technologies and regulations 12. Maintains professional working relationships with staff, students, parents and suppliers 13. Sensitive to the need for confidentiality in dealing with student/school/district matters 14. Responsible for other related duties as assigned Qualifications: -Knowledge of basic techniques and trades background including related equipment and supplies -Knowledge of safety practices/requirements, rules and regulations associated with trade, lab, equipment and materials -Ability to use associated equipment/machines, know how they function and the ability to oversee proper/safe usage -Ability to work independently with minimum instruction and also cooperatively as a member of a team -Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, faculty, administrators, parents, and representatives of outside organizations, write routine reports and correspondence -Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and handle stress -Ability to show patience, respect and compassion in working with students -Minimum 1 year of industry related experience preferred, industry certifications/licenses preferred -Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills -Prior experience working with high school students is preferred Work Conditions: Work is performed in a high school laboratory environment, and requires appropriate contact with machinery and other related trades equipment Paid by Edustaff Nondiscrimination: The Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, (including sexual orientation and gender identity), disability, age, religion, height, weight, marital or family status, military status, ancestry, genetic information or any other legally protected category, (collectively, "Protected Classes"), in its programs and activities, including employment opportunities.
