Job Description Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - Financial Aid Clerical Assistant. The student worker will work directly with students, parents and departments in the areas of customer service, information data collection walk-in, and phone operations. This position requires a great deal of independent judgment, analytical skills, and strong people skills when communicating information directly to the students, their families, and other departments. This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a strong knowledge of university, state, and federal policies and regulations regarding student accounts. Also required, is a strong understanding of the inner workings of departments related to student services. Applicants will also need to have an intermediate to high level technical knowledge and understanding of the PeopleSoft system, Microsoft Office, Hyland OnBase and the Kbox Support portal. Core Responsibilities: Interpret and explain financial aid policies and procedures to students and the general public. Answer emails and assist students with financial aid in person and virtually through Phone calls and Zoom appointments. The student worker will advise students regarding availability of financial aid, the eligibility requirements, the application process, and provide information regarding financial aid funding options. Minimum Qualifications: Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State. Skilled in problem solving, conflict resolution, time management and organization that promotes working with multiple projects and tasks. Ability to maintain a positive service attitude in a fast paced, high-volume customer service-based work environment. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse students and coworkers. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of intermediate computer skills preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of PeopleSoft system preferred. Bilingual in Spanish Preferred. Work Hours: Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week. Hourly Rate: $12.00 per hour.
