Job Summary Job Summary The Instructional Assistant - Special Education (Behavior Intervention) assists a certificated teacher by reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students with significant aggressive and/or other behavioral difficulties in a classroom setting or program using intensive behavioral management techniques, intervention strategies, coping skills and problem solving techniques. This classification also implements plans for instruction, monitors student behavior, documents activities and progress and performs a variety of related instructional support duties as assigned. View Job Description Requirements / Qualifications Six months of job-related experience working with students with special needs in a school or related environment is required. Attach these documents to your application: Valid First Aid and Adult CPR certifications from an accredited organization such as the Red Cross or American Heart Association. Online First Aid certificates are acceptable, however, CPR certificate must include "hands on" classroom training. The CPR certification must state that it was taken as a hands on or classroom training. If you do not have valid certification(s), you may submit certifications to a test proctor if you are selected to move forward in the testing process. Certifications must be submitted by the date scheduled for the Qualifications Appraisal Interview. CPR/First Aid Certification Comments and Other Information Examination Process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations, dates TBD: PLEASE NOTE: EXAM components and weighting are subject to change pending restrictions due to COVID-19. Multiple choice exam, weight: 75% and essay exam, weight: 25% The competitive basis for this recruitment is Open/Promotional. Candidates who pass all exams are placed on one of two eligibility lists in order of overall exam score. The Open eligibility list includes candidates who are not currently employed by San Dieguito Union High School District. The Promotional eligibility list includes candidates who are SDUHSD employees. When fewer than three ranks exist on the Promotional eligibility list candidates from the Open eligibility list will be considered. If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Prior to the application deadline, a request to transfer score(s) should be e-mailed to: barbara.basssduhsd.net . Transferring of exam scores does not apply to a Qualifications Appraisal Interview. Veterans may be eligible for preference points on entrance examinations. Entrance is defined as candidates who are not current employees of the District. Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance. The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer. Management employees serve a probationary period of one year.
