The report contains information on security policies as well as crime and fire statistics for the University. The Student Assistant will provide administrative support to the department. In addition to performing miscellaneous clerical duties, the Student Assistant will also be required to answer phones and greet visitors to the office, taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as necessary. S/he will also be required to assist with various department projects as assigned. Job Description Provide support to the Housing Operations team Responsibilities Conduct walkthrough inspections of vacant student rooms and shared public spaces in the residence halls Coordinate departmental deliveries, including meeting vendors to receive items, working with Facilities to have items moved and physically moving items to or from the residence halls. Managing distribution and collection of departmental moving bins Escorting Facilities or outside vendors into student rooms on a limited as-needed basis Assemble and distribute furnishings, such as floor lamps Post signs in the residence halls Greet and assist incoming visitors Answer a wide variety of questions related to the department's procedures and other general questions (training will be provided) General clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, shredding, sending faxes and other duties as assigned Assist with heavy volume of phones; taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as necessary Perform other such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time Please upload a resume and proof of federal work study Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Must be able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner Strong written and verbal communication skills Reliable and patient with visitors Office experience a plus Ability to work independently Strong customer service and organizational skills
