The Position: GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: Perform a variety of tasks focused on student success along with general office tasks involving frequent public contact and frequent computer use. As the front desk administrative assistant, serve as the first contact for all visitors to the advising center. Must possess excellent analytical skills, strong verbal and interpersonal communication, energy, enthusiasm and problem-solving capabilities. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the first point of contact for all students and visitors interacting with the academic advising center in person and via phone. Assist students with registering for classes, making appointments, and navigating MyIvy Assist staff, faculty, and the public with questions regarding the enrollment and registration process, FERPA laws, and other college policies. Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision. Assist and support advisors as needed with administrative tasks including put not limited to event planning, communication with students, faculty, and staff. Work with advisors to communicate often and effectively with students, maintaining consistent and positive contact Engage consistently and effectively with all offices on campuses including but not limited to enrollment, registrar, financial aid, student success, counseling center, and bursar. Order and monitor office supplies Assist with planning and implementing all advising events for new and continuing students This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Advanced level knowledge, skills and abilities attained through two (2) years of specialized post-secondary education/training or technical/industry certification in a specific area and substantial related experience.
