This position will report to the Manager/Assistant Director of Coding and will be responsible for coverage and projects for all specialties and services under the service line they support. They will be given advanced tasks based on the needs of their service line. They are expected to perform at a high level and be looked to as an expert on their service line. They are expected to have expert knowledge on all coding guidelines and abides by the standards of ethical coding and maintain 95% of greater quarterly quality score. Job Requirements Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required: Completion of Coding Course Experience Required: 3 year of Coder experience. Skills Must have the analytical ability to interpret data contained in medical records and assign appropriate codes for accurate billing Expert knowledge in ICD 10, CPT, HCPCS, DRG and PCS classification systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clinical staff Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management. Demonstrates competency with use of computers and various computer programs Visual acuity necessary to read and decipher handwriting and electronic documentation Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: One of the following core credentials: Inpatient Coding- RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CIC Outpatient Coding- CPC, CIC, COC, RHIT, RHIA, CCS or CRC Profee Coding- CPC, CIC, COC, RHIT, RHIA, CCS or CRC Preferred: Additional Approved Specialty Certification-CANPC (Certified Anesthesia and Pain Management Coder), CCC (Certified Cardiology Coder), CCVTC (Certified Cardiovascular and Thoracic Coder), CEDC (Certified Emergency Department Coder), CGIC (Certified Gastroenterology Coder), CGSC (Certified General Surgery Coder), CHONC (Certified Hematology and Oncology Coder), CIRCC (Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder), COBGC (Certified Obstetrics Gynecology Coder), COSC (Certified Orthopedic Surgery Coder), CPEDC (Certified Pediatrics Coder), CUC (Certified Urology Coder)
