Job Status: Full time
Travel Required: Frequent in County, occasional Training out of county
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week flex schedule
Monday-Friday 1 hour Lunch break
Position Summary: Under the direction of the County Appraiser and/or Deputy Appraiser, the Appraisal Clerk is responsible for the maintenance of all real estate and personal property records held in the appraiser's office. Accurate data entry and clerical skills are paramount in this position. The responsibilities include a physical inspection of property and review of information to accurately determine real property values

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience: This is an entry-level position. The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills between six months to one year in this position.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. A good understanding of General math is helpful.
Skills: Ability to operate a copy machine, calculator, computer, and other related office machines. The ability to receive, interpret and follow oral and/or written instructions as well as possess organizational skills. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, county officials, and the public.
Problem Solving: No problem solving exists in this position. Duties follow prescribed policies and procedures.
Decision Making: Limited decision-making exists in this position. Duties follow prescribed policies and procedures.
Accountability: Employee is not responsible for budgetary control of the department and does not participate in the annual budget process.
Supervision: Supervision is provided several times daily and the supervisor reviews all job-related decisions. The employee does not have supervisory responsibility for subordinate personnel.
Personal Relations: Frequent contact with other county departments, and the general public requiring the ability to communicate and relate positively and effectively.
Working Conditions: The position requires outdoor fieldwork during the winter and summer months with minimal contact with snakes and vicious dogs.

- Interact professionally with the public to respond to questions, calls, and concerns to provide information and assistance.
- Complete field inspection for task below may include physically viewing, measuring, collecting, and recording information
- Collect, analyze and evaluate data
- Responsible for data entry and retrieval of real estate parcels in the Kansas Orion system.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Schedule appointments for informal hearings and process hearing results
- Assist other departments in the completion of assignments when requested
- Compile other reports using the word, excel, and tablets as requested
- Attend staff meetings and continuing education/training courses as required
- Assists with processing large mailings and delivery to post office via motor vehicle or walking.
- Other related duties as necessary or required.
- Cross-train in other aspects of the Appraisal Dept.
- Pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screen
- Possess a valid Kansas Driver's License
