About The Role:
The Documents team is responsible for building and scaling the documents management platform within Rippling. This includes both a standalone, customer-facing product for creating, organizing, and distributing employment agreements and other company documents, as well as a documents platform to enable numerous documents use cases for other product verticals across the company.
From building performant systems that scale for large companies to designing an extensible platform that can support the myriad of documents requirements as we expand internationally, the documents team offers an opportunity to work on a product that's technically challenging, high visibility, and high impact.
What You’ll Do:
- Contribute to the shipment of high-impact products end-to-end while maintaining a high quality bar.
- Lead technical design discussions for new features, as well as providing feedback on other engineers’ designs.
- Propose, lead, and roll out technical initiatives that align the team with industry best practices for code quality, observability, testing, etc.
- Exercise great technical judgment in building scalable, maintainable, and extensible products and systems.
- Take ambiguous technical problem statements, turn them into an actionable plan, and then execute on it with the team.
- Model and execute against requirements involving complex and interdependent systems related to employment rules, country-specific requirements, and more.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related STEM field
- Experience building customer facing products
- You have seen systems operating at significant technical and organizational scale
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience in building projects with good abstractions and architecture
- Comfortable at developing scalable and extendable core services used in many products

Rippling highly values in-office collaboration. Employees living within 30 miles of an office are expected to work onsite three days a week with those living 30-49.9 miles away expected to be in the office one day a week. Employees living over 50 miles away are required to relocate within 30 miles of an office. To enhance team cohesiveness, new employees are asked to work onsite three days a week for their first six months.

A variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation–including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed below.
The pay range for this role is: 162,000 - 283,500 USD per year (US San Francisco Bay Area).
