About the role:

The Managing Vice President, Conferences Business Analytics & Performance is responsible for strategically leading and transforming our global analytics, reporting, and data science teams to support the Gartner Conferences marketing, sales, and operations teams to achieve their business goals. This individual will play a critical role in evolving our Conferences Data & Analytics capabilities to drive business growth and innovation. This person will have several key responsibilities:

  1. Identifying and solving complex commercial challenges using data. This will require working with key stakeholders to define and implement creative solutions to complex, often ambiguous, problems that drive the business forward through increased Conference attendance, retention or Sponsorship revenue. Representative project: Lead a cross-functional team to develop new contact acquisition and engagement process to enable conferences attendee revenue growth.
  2. Develop strategies and approaches to analyzing large data sets and develop predictive models that drive improved business performance. This includes serving as a key Conferences thought leader and advocate for the power of data, strategizing on how to make it most impactful, and encouraging data-driven decision making across all parts of the Conferences business. Representative project: Analyzing root causes of retention challenges related to lower-level Exhibitor products and developing a predictive model to identify leading attrition indicators.
  3. Manage and lead the development of KPIs, operating metrics, and dashboards that assist business leaders in managing the business. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for the development and delivery of analytical solutions and dashboards to help business leaders leverage their internal data assets for strategic decision making. Representative project: Develop dashboards that enable a clear view on conference ticket utilization for licensed users to aligned conferences.
  4. Ensure the integration of data science methodologies into business processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness. This includes directing the data scientist team in developing innovative models to solve complex business challenges. Representative project: Developing a recommendation engine that suggests personalized conference sessions and networking opportunities for attendees, enhancing their overall experience.

Finally, this individual will support and share accountability for achievement of the mission critical priorities of the Conferences business. This includes driving paid conference attendance, accelerating revenue growth of our exhibitor products, improving exhibitor retention, and identifying opportunities to scale.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive business experience with a strong background in strategy, consulting, data analytics, and data science.

  • Exceptional problem-solving capability: You have a proven track record of solving complex problems, thinking creatively and using data to tell a story to influence senior level stakeholders.

  • Implement Analytical Best Practices: Develop and enforce best practices for data modeling, analysis, and interpretation to ensure data-driven decision-making. This includes ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and scalability in alignment with product growth and user insights.

  • Fast-paced: You operate with a sense of “urgency” and can excel in an execution-focused environment.

  • Passion: You are intellectually curious and have the hunger to proactively and independently identify the opportunities where you can drive the most impact for the business.

  • Drive / Self-sufficiency: You have a demonstrated ability to own a problem and aggressively drive from problem statement to solution in a self-sufficient capacity, even in a matrixed environment.

  • Communication skills: You’re an excellent and structured verbal and written communicator with effective presentation and platform skills.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: You can foster strong cross-functional collaboration with other departments such as IT, Marketing, Sales, and Product Development.

  • Executive presence: You can effectively engage, lead and influence senior Gartner executives - this role offers high visibility and access to senior Gartner leadership.

  • Strong core values: You demonstrate integrity, collaboration, a no-limits mindset, objectivity, and consistent results using global best practices.

  • Leadership experience: Proven track record of leading high performing teams and influencing key stakeholders across business functions and all the way up the organizational ladder.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and MBA (or advanced degree) required.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 188,000 USD - 255,990 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
