Home Port is a seafood processor based in Bellingham, WA, offering custom processing as well as turnkey retail and wholesale solutions. Founded in 1992, Home Port combines three generations of seafood experience to provide high-quality processing paired with sustainable sourcing. Home Port is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wild Alaskan Company, but operates independently.

GENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTION

Homeport is looking to leverage our excellent track record in processing, along with Wild Alaskan Company’s sizable audience and access to high-quality Alaskan seafood to create a sales program.

Reporting directly to the CEO of Home Port with direct oversight from the company's Board, the VP of Sales will play a key role in developing and executing the sales strategy that is the foundation of Home Port’s success. They will be accountable for the process of developing retail, B2B, and food service relationships. The ideal candidate should have deep-seated relationships within the retail grocery business (preferably in the frozen seafood aisle) and have a proven track record of building and leading successful sales programs on a national scale. The VP of Sales will be successful if they are entrepreneurial, scrappy, have a hunger for new revenue-generating opportunities, and have the ability to seamlessly flex between the role of strategist and tactician.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Actively prospect for new business opportunities within the retail, B2B, and Food Service sectors.
  2. Negotiate and close deals, aiming to meet and exceed sales targets.
  3. Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop a comprehensive strategy for retail, B2B, and food service sales.
  4. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), set and track aggressive growth targets, and regularly report on progress to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  5. Develop connective tissue with Wild Alaskan Company’s Procurement team to create volume forecasts, understand accessibility to ensure smooth order processing with clients.
  6. Partner with Wild Alaskan Company’s Creative team to develop a turn-key design service.
  7. Create a strong partnership with Home Port’s Operations team to understand the production capabilities.
  8. Travel frequently to meet with clients and build strong relationships.
  9. Deliver financial targets focusing on total cost of ownership and sustainable profitability that align with the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  10. Develop a proactive, client-focused approach, managing expectations and working with multiple departments to resolve any outstanding issues.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. 10+ years of increasing responsibility in sales
  2. A minimum of 5 years in seafood sales
  3. Experience managing a minimum of $20M in annual sales
  4. Experience selling into the top 10 grocery retailers in the US (Walmart, Kroger, Costco, etc.)
  5. Sales Negotiation
  6. Contract Negotiation
  7. Effective verbal and written communication skills
  8. Proficient in both Microsoft Office and Google Suite
