NORTHWEST INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Title: LPAC Assistant (0854) Reports To: Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Dept. /School: Curriculum & Instruction Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Pay Grade: P30 Duty Days: 235 Date Revised: 05/2023 Primary Purpose: Supports testing, scoring, and documenting results in the Language Testing Center. Consult with families and students regarding Dual Language and English as a Second Language programs. Provide support for, student/parent communication. Qualifications: Speaks, reads, and writes English fluently, bilingual preferred. Experience working and communicating with children and families. College hours preferred, high school diploma or GED required. Proficient technology skills Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to organize and self-motivate. Excellent telephone and public relations skills Flexible in work situation Experience with budget and general bookkeeping Knowledge of file management system Major Responsibilities and Duties: Maintains administrative records and prepares required reports. Contacts families to schedule language-testing appointments. Communicates and advises parents and guardians of program options. Assist the Language Acquisition Department in screening activities, and group meetings with parents, guardians, and children. Communicates with campuses regarding language testing, student program placement, and next steps to support Emergent Bilingual students and families. Type's correspondence, reports, agendas, memos, and other documents supporting the Language Proficiency Assessment Committees and Emergent Bilingual students and families. Coordinates communications with department personnel. Greets and assists visitors and district personnel. Keeps daily and monthly reports up-to-date, records and distributes. Maintains budget. Prepares documents relative to the operation of the office (letters, memos, procedures, PO's, curriculum guides, and schedules. Maintains accurate general ledger records of accounts pertaining to pupil appraisal, in-service, curriculum supplies, travel and fees and dues. Keeps the coordinator and department informed regarding appointments, meetings, prepares for upcoming meetings and trainings as needed. Receives incoming calls, takes reliable messages exercising prudent judgment, tact, and discretion relative to the position. Performs additional tasks in a positive manner. Maintains physical and computerized departmental files. Supervisory Duties: N/A Equipment Used: Personal computer, typewriter, printer, copier, calculator, and fax machine. Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district wide travel. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, pushing, sitting, and overhead reaching. Position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds waist high.
