Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for Principal / Senior Principal Radar Systems Engineers to join our Airborne Multifunction Systems (AMS) Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team at our Linthicum, MD campus to fill roles on multiple major development programs. Qualified candidates will apply strong systems engineering knowledge and will have the opportunity to work on multiple tasks including but not limited to: System Architecture/Concept Development, Candidate Technology Trade Studies, Requirements Development and Derivation, Algorithm Development, Performance Analysis, Data Analysis, and work with cross-disciplinary hardware, software, and firmware teams. This position requires up to 100% on-site work due to security constraints and an ability to pass an enhanced security review. Roles & Responsibilities: This position is primarily engaged in the development and fielding of Air-to-Air, Air-to-Ground, and Ground-to-Air Radar systems for advanced dedicated and multi-function RF subsystems. This requisition can be filled by a Principal System Engineer or a Senior Principal Systems Engineer. This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access (SAP) prior to starting and contract award. Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of related experience; or 3 years related experience with a Master's Degree. Will consider 9 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement. Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches. Experience with MATLAB or equivalent programming/analysis languages. The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required. Ability to obtain approval for Special Access Programs prior to starting. US Citizenship required. Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Mechanical Engineering with 8 years of related experience; 6 years of related experience with a Master's Degree; or 4 years of related experience with a Ph.D. Will consider additional 4 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement. Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches. Experience with MATLAB or equivalent programming/analysis languages. The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required. Ability to obtain approval for Special Access Programs prior to starting. US Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision. Understanding the AIMS certification process and documentation. Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering. Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, C++, or equivalent programming/analysis languages. Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation. Experience with performance analysis by simulation, including verification and validation techniques. Experience with radar waveform, digital beamforming, adaptive processing, or algorithm development. Ability to effectively communicate and present complex technical concepts to project, program, and company management, other technical managers, and customers. Excellent technical writing and team-building skills. A current/active DoD Secret clearance. Previously approved for special access programs.
