We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering who is passionate about growing and sustaining an innovative technology organization while fostering a culture of engineering and operational excellence. This individual will be an engineering leader who enjoys solving complex business problems in a fast-paced, collaborative, inclusive, and iterative delivery environment. The Director of Software Engineering is in the Enterprise Platform Technology line of business and oversight of an enterprise financial core platform. In this role, you will focus on our resiliency posture, technical strategy and multi-year roadmap, and collaboration across all lines of business. Your expertise in software engineering and knowledge of data engineering will position you to influence peer technical partners and business stakeholders. You will design cloud native solutions and will have the opportunity to work on emerging technologies such as: AWS, Scala, Java, Python, TypeScript, ReactJS, Node, NewRelic, etc. Specifically you will: Lead multiple agile teams and coach and mentor engineers through their career development and performance. Work with Product partners to develop the technology strategy, roadmap and vision for the platforms you own; and deliver application capabilities. Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies. Lead complex vendor relationships and ensure well-managed integration of vendor platforms into our broader Capital One ecosystem. Develop and leverage trusted relationships across Architecture, Design, and other Technology leaders to ensure strategic alignment across key Bank Tech initiatives. Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities. Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity. Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree At least 7 years experience in software engineering or software development At least 5 years experience in people management At least 5 years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree 10+ years of experience in software engineering or software development 7+ years of experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) 5+ years of experience in data engineering 5+ years of experience with monitoring, alerting & streaming technologies 5+ years of experience in Agile practices 3+ years of experience in modernizing technology stacks
