BridgeValley CTC invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible, Director of Nursing Retention, beginning as soon as possible. Under the direction of the Dean and Nurse Administrator for the School of Nursing, the Director of Nursing Retention is responsible for education, retention, and success of students for the School of Nursing’s Academic Program Pathways leading to Registered Nurse and Practical Nurse licensure. The Director of Nursing Retention assists in on-campus and off-campus student recruitment initiatives, Nursing Program Information Sessions, student registration, student orientation, boot camps, individualized tutoring, and examination preparation for the NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN. The Director is dedicated to conducting activities in a manner that promotes student success, lifelong learning, and career readiness. In addition, the Director of Nursing Retention works closely with the BridgeValley Community and Technical College School of Nursing’s Faculty to assure that student learning needs are met. The annual salary range for this position is $52,337-$60,220. The actual offer will be commensurate with education and experience. This position is grant-funded.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist and collaborate in the development and management of comprehensive programming of services designed to increase student retention. Manage caseload including, communicating with students on grades, academic and personal concerns, registration, and general guidance. Collect and analyze data for semester/annual reports, as well as maintain student records in compliance with campus and school policies and accreditation standards. Provide regular reports on student progress to assist with assessment of programs and student success and provide recommendations to faculty committees and/or the Dean. Educate students about course planning and registration processes, refer to available on-and off-campus resources to assist students in achieving personal, educational and career goals. Participate in continuing student advising and registration. Initiate retention contacts with advisees who are behind in registration for the subsequent semester. Audit, monitor, and evaluate individual students’ academic progress. Coordinate student success plans for students below the required nursing and general education co-requisite passing rate. Make appropriate referrals for students perceived as at-risk and act as a student advocate as appropriate. Work with the college’s Early Alert system to identify students in need of assistance. Develop and implement innovative and supplemental instruction programs for the School of Nursing and contextualize learning classes in compliance with content standards. Teach and/or oversee instructors of dedicated retention workshops. Collaborate with other departments and local high schools to implement robust bridge programs for retention. Participate on the college’s Retention Committee. Work with the Dual Enrollment Coordinator in relation to the WIN Academy and the success needs of those students. In collaboration with Nursing Level Coordinators, maintain current knowledge of the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exams as well as current knowledge of course materials and academic policies. Serve on the Nursing Program Advisory Committee and other college committees as needed. Mindfulness training for currently enrolled students. Ability to provide professional development for faculty and staff. Grant-writing. Accessibility testing oversight/coordination. Occasional collaborative sessions or bridging services with EMS and other disciplines. Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Max Hour Appeals. Medical Help Program Virtual Bootcamps. Attend Nursing Program Recruitment Events. Other duties as assigned.
