The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned. Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions The Taylor lab is looking for a self-motivated, independent post-doctoral researcher for an exciting collaborative opportunity to investigate novel therapeutics and resistance mechanisms in leukemia and other myeloid neoplasms. The Taylor laboratory uses molecular and genetic techniques to discover the driving forces behind blood cancers and leverage that knowledge to develop new therapies. They are also developing single cell genomic technologies. The applicant should be enthusiastic about cancer research and a self-motivated, independent worker. The applicant should be interested in translational research with a strong knowledge of basic biology, hematopoiesis, immunology and/or molecular biology. Specific interest and experience with CRISPR gene-editing, single-cell technologies, mouse models of leukemia/MDS and/or drug sensitivity/resistance screening will be preferred. Department Expectations: Ability to make a firm commitment to the project. Present data at public meetings and publish manuscripts. Work with other lab members and across collaborative groups. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. Must be willing to work with animals; experience preferred but not required. No prior experience required Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing bio-informatic data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python and R.
