Posting Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Nurse for the department of Surgery, Division of Urology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In accordance with professional nursing standards, skillfully coordinate patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Utilizes the nursing process to systematically assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document a plan of care individualized for a specific Rutgers Health patient, group or population in face-to-face and telehealth encounters based upon clinical knowledge in disease management, disease prevention, health and wellness, health risk assessment, self-care management and health education as well as care coordination, patient advocacy and case management. Engages in ongoing performance improvement activities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of one’s clinical and professional nursing practice and that of the Rutgers Health organizational system. Fosters an environment that nurtures collaboration, teamwork, and mutual respect through effective communication as demonstrated by positive relationships with patients, family members/caregivers, Rutgers Health staff, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure the delivery of healthcare that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient-centered. Work directly with the Physician, Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants to provide the necessary coordination of patient care, including but not limited to patients in the outpatient area, pre and post-surgical care and responding to patient clinical inquiries. Coordinate with administrative office staff when needed to ensure all necessary testing and supplies are available/provided to the patient. Create a collaborative working environment with outpatient staff, providing direction and support as needed. Travel to offsite clinical locations to provide support to physician as requested. Position Status: Full Time Daily Work Shift: Day Work Arrangement: This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement. Minimum Qualifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Possesses the following skills: the ability to provide nursing care, ability to relate to patients, ability to use the nursing process, effective communication skills, ability to problem solve, ability to direct non-professional staff and the ability to request help as needed. Demonstrate strong clinical nursing specialty, excellent communication skills, must be PC literate with proficiency in word processing. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Physical Demands: Standing 2/3 of the time, sitting 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3 of the time. Lifting up to 25 lbs. Multitasking required.
