Key Responsibilities: Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries, ensuring proper classification of construction-related expenses (labor, materials, subcontractor payments, etc.). Track and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable (A/P, A/R) related to construction projects. Post transactions to the accounting system, ensuring they are categorized correctly.

Job Costing and Project Tracking: Assist with tracking project costs (direct and indirect) and compare actual costs to budgeted estimates. Update and manage project-specific financial reports, including labor costs, material costs, subcontractor expenses, and overhead. Ensure all construction-related financial data is captured in real-time to facilitate timely decision-making.

Payroll Processing: Process payroll for construction employees, including tracking hours worked, overtime, and deductions. Ensure compliance with union agreements, prevailing wage rates, and other specific payroll regulations relevant to the construction industry. Coordinate with project managers to verify labor costs for each construction job.

Invoicing and Payment Collection: Prepare and issue invoices for clients based on project milestones or completion stages. Monitor payment collections from clients and follow up on overdue invoices. Coordinate with project managers and superintendents to confirm billing milestones and amounts.

Financial Reporting: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports. Provide reports on project profitability, cash flow, and cost performance for management review. Help prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.

Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Process and track payments to vendors and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services. Maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to resolve any billing discrepancies or payment issues. Ensure compliance with payment terms and contracts.

Tax Compliance and Filing: Assist with tax-related documentation, including sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory requirements specific to construction. Work with external accountants or auditors during tax season or year-end audits.

Compliance and Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions and compliance with construction industry-specific regulations and financial practices. Help with the preparation of documentation for bonding and insurance purposes.

Software and Systems Management: Utilize accounting software tailored to the construction industry (such as QuickBooks, Procore, Sage, or Buildertrend). Ensure systems are updated with accurate data and help with troubleshooting as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications: Education:

High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require a degree in accounting, finance, or business administration). Experience:

At least 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction or a related field. Knowledge of Construction Accounting:

Understanding of job costing, construction billing, and labor tracking. Attention to Detail:

Ability to maintain accurate financial records and identify discrepancies. Technical Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Procore, Sage).
