Scientist I (Downstream Process Development)
Notes: Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am - 5pm (some flex). Hiring ASAP, but will likely start Jan. This is bench-scale work with antibody purification from human and mouse models and will be primarily bench scale lab work. Ideal candidate will have antibody purification or other protein purification experience using FPLC or HPLC (affinity, ion exchange or hydrophobic chromatography) and candidate really needs to have experience with AKTA for chromatography systems. Interview process: 1) 30-minute virtual / phone interview with hiring manager, 2) will be 1/2 day on-site with the team. This position is on-site, mostly lab work but may allow for some hybrid work to complete paperwork. 99% on-site. Description: The Process Development team is seeking a talented, highly motivated Scientist I to work on the purification of therapeutic antibody drug candidates from human and mouse immune repertoires. The successful candidate will provide downstream process development and material support within the company’s Process Development team. Primary responsibilities for role: Development, optimize, and scale-up purification processes for biologics candidates to support early stage development. Analyze and interpret data to drive technical understanding, meet project targets and objectives, problem solve, and make recommendations that drive efficiency, knowledge, and manage risk. Collaborate closely with other functional areas involved in antibody therapeutics development, including upstream process development, analytical development, project management, and cross-functional partners. Work effectively with external collaborators and CROs. Coordinate activities with functional groups and project teams. Discuss experiments and data to project team members. Develop, write, and review standard operating protocols and other technical documents. May act as a lead for assigned projects or team. Mentor and train other technical staff. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in protein purification techniques, especially chromatography; antibody purification experience. Proficient in writing methods and operating AKTA chromatographic instruments (such as AKTA Avant, AKTA Purifier, AKTA Pure, AKTA Ready or similar). Strong scientific understanding and logical thinking. Ability to train others in basic laboratory techniques and equipment operation. Proficiency in analytical method development and analytical method validation. Demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving activities. Education: Bachelors and 4+ years, or Masters with 2+ years of experience. On-Boarding Requirements: Address to Criminal History (7 year). Address to Federal Criminal History (7 year). AKA Names Provided (up to 9). Education Verification Employment Verification (up to 3 years or last 3 employers). Social Security Address/Alias Trace.
