Clinician Scholar Faculty Position in Infectious Disease Sciences

The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division (VIDD) of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) is seeking exceptional applicants for a full-time faculty position (12-month indefinite appointment) as assistant or associate professor in the clinician/scholar track to serve as an attending physician and develop a research program related to complications and treatment outcomes of infectious diseases in the cancer care setting. This position carries a joint appointment as assistant or associate professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT), on the clinician/scholar pathway in the University of Washington, Department of Medicine, Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The primary appointment will be in VIDD of Fred Hutch. Academic appointment at UW will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant Professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service and 1 month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date of this position is July 2025 or later. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research in infectious disease in the immunocompromised host (cancer-care setting). The selected individual will have the opportunity to demonstrate their passion for service, education, patient care, and clinical research that will contribute to the mission of Fred Hutch, known for its pioneering research and innovation in cancer and infectious diseases. The person would be an active member of the Infectious Disease Consult Team caring for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient departments, spending 50-60% of their effort towards clinical service. This position will have Center support to develop a significant scholarly and quality improvement component, which will establish the faculty member as a leader in their field. Areas of potential research include infections in the immunocompromised host and interventional trials to reduce the burden of infectious complications in cancer patients. Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching responsibilities will involve oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community. Applicants must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), be board certified or eligible in Infectious Diseases (or foreign equivalent), and must also be trained and completed ACGME-accredited fellowship program in Infectious Disease. Applicants must also be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. Applicants must have expertise in the care of immunocompromised patients, and clinical research experience in the field of immunocompromised host infectious diseases is preferred. In order to be eligible for sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent, as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae; a concise statement of career goals including a description of clinical research goals (two pages or less); a diversity, equity, and inclusion statement describing your past contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion and your future plans for continuing these efforts as a faculty member (two pages or less); and a list of three references. The annual base salary range for this position is from $216,842-$233,756 for faculty hired at the assistant professor rank and from $247,400-$265,212 for faculty hired at the associate professor rank. The pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance and sign-on bonus. Other compensation associated with this position may include an Administrative Supplement (ADS) in addition to base pay.
