NIDA – Government and Congressional Relations Specialist
The National Institute on Drug Abuse will be recruiting a Government and Congressional Relations Specialist in the Office of the Director (OD), Office of Science Policy and Communications (OSPC). OSPC’s mission is to lead NIDA’s strategic efforts to inform public health policy and practice by ensuring the institute is the trusted source for scientific information on drug use and addiction.
The Government and Congressional Relations Specialist reports to the OSPC Deputy Director. Duties include the following:
Monitor Congressional actions or legislation in public health to assess the relevance to a public health research organization’s mission.
Identify and recommend approaches for improved Congressional relations related to the development and enhancement of addiction research.
Develop written documents for communications to Congressional staffers and committees.
Analyze legislation and Congressional activities to determine their impact on existing programs or policies.
Research, review, and analyze legislative data to provide recommendations to leadership.
