Position Overview As a Senior Research Analyst on the Power Markets Research team, you will be responsible for supporting REsurety’s power price and carbon emission impact forecasts. REsurety’s customers include large clean energy buyers, sellers, and investors. You will be responsible for increasing the accuracy, applicability, and commercial value of the power market and emissions forecast results across the customer base. You will work with members of REsurety’s Research, Engineering, Customer Experience, and Product teams to innovate and collaborate on the direction and strategy for REsurety’s fundamentals modeling capabilities. REsurety uses its unique Weather-Smart approach to fundamentals modeling to provide best-in-class forecasts of renewable energy value and risk for our customers. This role will allow you to work closely with and collaborate with experts in renewable energy, meteorology, electricity system design, fundamentals modeling, and data analysis. At REsurety, you will also be exposed to concepts and processes from software engineering and product development, with the fundamentals models providing a key input to our software products. Key Responsibilities Assist senior modelers with running regular updates of REsurety’s fundamentals models. Prepare inputs for REsurety’s fundamentals price models, including commodity prices, current and planned generators, and modeled generation and demand. Assess the accuracy and validity of REsurety’s price forecasts and suggest areas for improvement. Conduct research on generator updates, transmission upgrades, market rules, and policy changes to ensure REsurety’s fundamentals inputs are kept up-to-date. Contribute to internal R-based tools, Tableau dashboards, and other methods for analyzing and visualizing price forecast data. Required Experience & Qualifications Experience using a programming language to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data. Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in a technical field. Excellent teamwork, communication, and presentation skills. A passion for driving down the cost of energy from renewable sources. Preferred Qualifications Experience with R, Python, or SQL. Master’s degree in a technical field. Experience with power market fundamentals modeling software (e.g., PSO, PLEXOS). An understanding of the functioning of one or more North American wholesale electricity markets. Details Our organization works on a hybrid model. We are in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at our downtown Boston building, remote optional on Wednesdays and Fridays.
