ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
The position of Director of Nursing Education reports directly to the Dean of Health Sciences.
PURPOSE/SUMMERY OF JOB:
The Director of Nursing Education manages the nursing programs in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Morgan Community College. This position has the authority and responsibility for the management of the Associate of Applied Science and Baccalaureate of Nursing Programs. Release time from teaching responsibilities is granted for administrative duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide effective leadership to the nursing programs in achieving its mission, goals and expected program outcomes. (20%)
Demonstrate leadership within the faculty for the development, implementation and evaluation of the nursing programs' curriculum based on data from a systematic evaluation plan. (20%)
Collaborate with nursing faculty to establish, evaluate and revise program outcomes and students learning outcomes. (15%)
Ensure program compliance with current policies and standards of the Colorado State Board of Nursing and accreditation agencies. (10%)
Prepare reports for accreditation agencies, Colorado State Board of Nursing, Colorado Community College System and others as required. (5%)
Perform administrative duties of purchasing, budgeting, and marketing. Collaborate with nursing faculty in identifying department needs for purposes of financial management. Work closely with the Dean of General Education and Health Sciences in planning and administering the department budget. (5%)
Follow college policy for the employment and evaluation of faculty/instructors in the nursing program. (3%)
Coordinate the schedule of classes and faculty assignments. (3%)
Act as a liaison with the accreditation agencies for nursing programs. (3%)
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with the community, fostering the program's responsiveness to community/employer needs. (3%)
Work with the Nursing Simulation Faculty and Clinical Coordinator to arrange at least monthly faculty meetings and biannual advisory board committee meetings. Responsible for record keeping of meetings. (2%)
Assist the Nursing Simulation Faculty and Clinical Coordinator in developing and coordinating the use of the clinical facilities and resources. (2%)
Establish a working relationship with directors of other nursing programs in the state. Attend meetings and maintains an awareness of the field. (2%)
Work closely with other College departments to ensure financial aid and counseling for students as well as recruitment, admission, retention, progression, graduation and job placement. (2%)
Coordinate with the College Registrar to provide for a system of permanent records and reports essential to the operation of the program discipline as well as for accreditation through the appropriate accrediting agencies. (1%)
Participate in the Strategic Planning Process at both the college and program level. (1%)
Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences, Vice President of Instruction and President. (1%)
Based on the functions, this position is identified as a Campus Security Authority. As a Campus Security Authority the incumbent in this position is required to report allegations of Clery Act crimes that they become aware of to the Vice President of Student Success at Morgan Community College. Attends training pertaining to these responsibilities as required. (1%)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license in Colorado or compact state.
Minimum of three years (3) full-time teaching experience in a professional nursing program.
Experience in leadership or supervision.
Demonstrated success in working with diverse student populations.
Minimum of three (3) years recent experience in professional nursing practice.
Must have or be able to obtain a Colorado Career and Technical Education Credential.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Leadership or administrative experience in a nursing program.
Experience working in distance education.
Experience with budget management.
