Strategic Budget Officer

The College of Health (COH) at the University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking a Strategic Budget Officer. As a central member of the COH leadership team, the Strategic Budget Officer is responsible for all budgeting and accounting activities in the college. These activities include financial reporting and developing budget scenarios, financial projections, and trend analyses to inform and advise the Dean. The position develops, leads, and implements the annual budget process. It also provides in-depth analysis of budget needs and recommends final budget allocation decisions based on mission and strategic goals. To thrive in this role, applicants should possess strong strategic planning skills and a mastery of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles. The successful applicant will have significant experience with authorizing expenditures, maintaining budget and fiscal records, managing overall budgets, monitoring fiscal activity, developing budgets, and forecasting expenditures. This position requires the ability to perform multiple highly specialized or complex functions to support diverse budget objectives. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and five years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with accounting theory and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Position Details: This position is located on the Goose Lake campus in Anchorage, Alaska and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and
