ORGANIZATION Founded in 1975, MRC is Mississippi’s only comprehensive rehabilitation hospital featuring programs specifically designed to treat people who have had a stroke, brain, or spinal injury. MRC is recognized as a national leader in providing extraordinary rehabilitation healthcare. MRC is accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF, the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities. MRC has been named one of America’s Best by U.S. News and World Report and one of only 16 Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems in the nation.
MRC is an independent nonprofit rehabilitation health system sponsored by the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church. MRC is affiliated with the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) fostering collaboration in research, staffing the UMMC Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and providing a coordinated plan of treatment for patients transitioning from acute care to the rehab setting.
MRC provides clinical care for brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, post-amputation, neurological disease, joint and back pain, and orthopedics. MRC consists of a seven-story, 124-bed hospital, orthotics & prosthetics, three outpatient therapy clinics, a residential care facility designed for younger severely disabled people, and the Center for Neuroscience and Neurological Recovery, its research division. In addition, MRC is supported by the Wilson Research Foundation, a 501(3)(C) focused on building research and education programs to advance the clinical practice of neurorehabilitation.
MRC has launched an ambitious plan for expansion, recently opening an Orthopedic Clinic in Gluckstadt, with plans for a multi-specialty clinic in Clinton. Orthopedics & Prosthetics is adding a ninth outpatient clinic in Tupelo, and MRC's Flowood Campus has been enhanced with an interventional pain management physician. In 2023, MRC embarked on a plan to stabilize the organization, transitioning to a position of stability, both operationally and financially.
THE COMMUNITY Jackson, the state capital of Mississippi, is home to almost 600,000 residents. Known as “The City with a Soul”, Jackson is the largest city in the state, offering the amenities and diverse communities of a large city while delivering the hospitality unique to Mississippi. An integrated transportation system includes three interstates and Jackson-Medgar Evers International Airport. A center of culture, Jackson is known for its musical influences in blues, jazz, and gospel. The economy includes major industry sectors in advanced manufacturing, health care, information technology, food processing, and distribution. Students have access to more than a dozen college and university campuses, and the downtown district is currently undergoing a $1.5 billion renovation initiative.
Responsibilities The Director is responsible for the overall clinical quality, integrity, service excellence, and financial management of the Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy Services in the inpatient rehabilitation program. Accountable for budgeting, productivity management, hiring and supervision of staff, expense management, and program development for the PT/OT/ST departments. As Program Director, is responsible for the quality and outcome improvement for the inpatient rehab program. Works closely with the Director of Quality, VP of Nursing, Nursing Directors/Managers, and the rehab physicians to provide direction and support to the Inpatient program. Serves as the leader in the program to coordinate CARF surveys and oversees ongoing conformance to CARF standards using an interdisciplinary team approach.
Qualifications
Graduate from a Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology Program
Must possess and maintain current licensure in the State of Mississippi
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a treating therapist, and a minimum 3 years’ supervisory or management experience
Previous experience with CARF surveys as part of a team or having primary responsibility for preparing organizations/programs for CARF surveys strongly desired
