Role Description:
Huitt-Zollars, Inc has a full-time opportunity for a Principal-in-Charge/Vice President (Transit) for our Dallas office. The candidate will have at least 20 years' experience in transit. We are seeking a Principal to manage a multitude of transit projects and drive business development efforts nationwide. The successful candidate will develop business and manage transit projects involving planning, engineering, construction and program management services. Location:

Professional Engineer Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Planning Duties: Serve as Project Manager or Principal-In-Charge on projects for Transit Agencies. Conduct business development activities for transit projects and cultivate strong client relationships. Lead and participate in meetings with Transit Agencies and other consultants to explore business development opportunities. Oversee the execution of transit projects, ensuring quality, scope compliance, and profitability. Develop & negotiate project scopes, budgets, and schedules, including reviewing contract terms. Monitor project progress including review of monthly invoices and progress reports. Recruit, manage, and mentor staff ensuring performance excellence on assigned projects. Participate in Industry Organizations such as APTA, SWTA, RailVolution, COMTO, Commuter Rail Coalition, and various State Transit Associations. Development of Annual Business Plans and Strategic Marketing Plans. Key Responsibilities: Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goals. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy. Successfully and consistently functions as Lead Principal-in-Charge for their designated Practice Area in geographic market. Competent, knowledgeable, service leader in the market(s) they service. Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations. Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects. Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client). Verifies client satisfaction routinely and shares feedback with team. Proactively works with PM to strategize resolving issues that impact project performance. Reviews progress with PM at least monthly (including & completes vs. % spent) and that PM is adhering to weekly rhythm. Successfully contributes to the overall profitability and financial performance on projects. Oversees staff deliverables and production assigned to their projects to ensure client, legal, and company requirements are met. Role Competencies: Sharing Information:

Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Minimum of 20 years of transportation engineering experience, particularly on TXDOT-related projects. Project Management experience on Transit Projects. Successful business development experience and a strong understanding of the transit market. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to travel.
