JOB SUMMARY Director of Radiology is accountable for planning, directing, and coordinating operations and programs of the radiology service line at Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH), which performs medical imaging in BSWH hospitals, clinics, and ambulatory care facilities. The imaging equipment may include x-ray machines, fluoroscopes, CT scanners, or MRI equipment and produce radiographs used by BSWH physicians to diagnose illness and injury. Plans and directs programs and activities which may include clinical practice guidance, clinical rotations, utilization, quality, productivity, performance standards, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuing education. Develops and establishes policies and procedures related to the radiology practice and monitors policy implementation, communication, and compliance. Advises BSWH leadership, medical staff, departments, and operations in matters related to BSWH radiology practice and ensures alignment with overall BSWH business goals. Combines with clinical operations, physician leadership, and nursing leadership to drive improvement in the delivery of radiology services and overall quality of patient care at BSWH. Identifies and implements best practice programs and processes and ensures compliance with all regulatory areas that impact radiology and medical imaging. Directs the radiology clinical practice, coordinates patient service delivery, educates and develops radiology staff, and monitors radiology work environments for BSWH. Partners closely with physician and senior leadership in the development of growth strategies, achievement of targets, and outcome improvement. An entity Director translates and implements strategic plans and goals for area of responsibility. Makes final judgments on operational matters and ensures achievement of goals. Recommends policies and organizational changes for area. Plans and executes projects and initiatives that meet annual goals. Plans and directs the operations of a department or area, with responsibility for staffing, processes, budgets, and costs of the unit. Runs and advises subordinate(s) to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, and monitor performance. Has a larger, more complex organization or functional area than a manager. Often has one or more managers or supervisors reporting to the role. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Directs radiology imaging services for assigned areas of responsibility for BSWH. Recommends and implements radiology strategic and operational plans and priorities, aligned to the overall business goals of BSWH. Designs and implements metrics, dashboards, and tools to monitor service levels, patient satisfaction, and quality of patient care at radiology offices. Runs and monitors productivity, quality improvements, safety protocols, and other work processes. Develops and implements radiology policies, procedures, processes, and service guidelines. Directs the selection, development, and operations of new and existing radiology facilities, equipment, vendors, and scope of services offered. Ensures compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements related to radiology services. Directs continuous improvement activities and initiatives that streamline operations, implement best practices, and improve patient satisfaction. Selects and runs delivery of education and training on latest radiology techniques and practices. Plans for future equipment needs, tracks maintenance of equipment, and recommends purchase of new equipment and imaging technologies. KEY SUCCESS FACTORS Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Graduate from an accredited program in radiologic technology preferred. 3+ years of experience in operations of radiology, imaging, or related area, preferably in a multi-site healthcare system. Experience in a leadership role preferred. Certified in radiology with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred. Current state license as Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) preferred. Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) is preferred. Working knowledge of imaging equipment, technologies, and configurations. Knowledge of applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements for radiology in healthcare. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, clinicians, and leadership.
