Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer – Global Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations.
This is for a Principal Software Engineer on the C2BMC JEMINI program. Primarily responsible for software development using
Java . Work independently or with a small group and be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment.
Essential Functions:
Knowledge of software practices and coding standards.
Strong problem-solving skills, including reviewing performance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending and developing a solution.
Provide in-depth analysis and technical support of an extensive, distributed system written in
Java .
Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, integration, and user support for a large code baseline.
Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within the code.
Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation.
Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve efficiency.
Design, code, test, and implement tools for automation.
Command and control system application development.
Experience with message translation software.
Automated test and pipeline development experience.
Experience designing and developing microservices and deploying with containers.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application.
Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
Experience working as part of an Agile team.
Familiarity with
Java Spring .
Familiarity with containerization tools such as
Docker/Kubernetes .
Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.
Experience developing enterprise applications.
Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.
Use of standard software development and management tools such as:
Git ,
Nexus ,
JIRA ,
Confluence ,
Maven ,
Gradle ,
Eclipse .
Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as
Use Cases
and
UML diagrams .
Development of software for
Unix/Linux
and
Windows
platforms.
Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts.
Experience with
Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify mitigation .
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in engineering focused discipline is highly desired.
Current and active TS/SCI is highly desired.
DoD 8140 certification at
IAT Level II or higher
is highly desired.
