Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Software Engineer at its facility located at 540 West Madison St, Chicago, IL 60661. Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day operations of Caterpillar's Cloud environment. Ensure that resources in the cloud are sufficiently managed, tagged, and under proper utilization. Work with development teams to ensure proper sizing and costing of infrastructure hosted in the cloud. Write code to support automations for deploying and managing cloud infrastructure. Create and maintain service availability and stability. Investigate issues arising on the AWS platform and identify technical contacts to help solve them. Write automation to fix issues and improve performance of systems and services in Pre-Production & Production stages. Perform all programming and development assignments without close supervision. Contribute to reactive changes to configuration during remediation. Make proactive configuration changes to minimize operational disruptions. Oversee cloud services used by the organization’s employees. Investigate cloud architectures and automation techniques for agile and automated IT processes. Minimum Requirements: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus one (1) year of experience as a Software Developer, Cloud Engineer, or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: Navigating the AWS Console and AWS resources and services; Scripting languages such as Python; Using AWS to analyze issues and create solutions based on AWS best practices; Automating and implementing identity and security policies for cloud infrastructure (AWS).
