About the role: Boston Scientific is seeking an experienced Principal Data Scientist within the IT organization. This individual will have a unique opportunity to work across internal function and division teams on ML/AL/GenAI initiatives for the enterprise. This individual will have both a hands-on and strategic role in data science efforts and will also help to mentor a team of data scientists accelerating advanced analytics and artificial intelligence at Boston Scientific.

Your responsibilities will include: Develop predictive and diagnostic algorithms to support Digital Health initiatives through collaboration and physical or virtual collocation with a Digital Health application product development team Assess internal data and processes to determine opportunities for application of advanced analytics to support internal business operations Develop advanced analytics capabilities to improve internal business efficiencies Collaborate with leadership on development and execution of advanced analytics strategic and tactical road maps Train junior data engineers and data scientists on advanced analytics tools, models, artificial intelligence, etc. Analyze the artificial intelligence needs of functional departments, divisions and regions and make recommendations for implementing AI solutions to support functional initiatives Promote and support the principles and standards of the enterprise architecture and enterprise-supported technologies Collaborate with Data Architects, Data Engineers and Product Managers to contribute to the overall data modeling strategy and information flow decisions Promote simplified integrations and AI solutions with a business-process-first approach Support the development of integration systems throughout the Software Development Lifecycle according to the IT methodology, department SOP’s, and team guidelines Assist in maintaining validated systems within the advanced analytics scope in accordance with internal software validation procedures and compliance to external controls such as GDPR, HIPAA, etc. Oversee and provide guidance for solutions to complex technical problems by challenging traditional technical assumptions Identify innovative uses of Information Technology to provide a competitive advantage in healthcare analytics for Boston Scientific Stay up-to-date with emerging business problems and how the industry is using AI/ML techniques Participate and take lead role in enterprise communities of practice for analytics, AI, ML, etc. Required qualifications: Master’s level degree in engineering, statistics, mathematics, or data science with 5+ years of professional experience or Bachelor’s level degree in engineering, statistics, mathematics, or data science with 7+ years of professional experience Expert in math and statistics with demonstrated ability using data to make intelligent business predictions and continually improves the way the company uses data Experience mentoring or leading junior data scientists or teams with data engineering roles Experience with agile methodology, design thinking, and lean startup approach Able to explain findings (statistical and analytical) to business partners and what they mean from business perspective, defines business value Preferred qualifications: Experience with healthcare algorithms, their implementation and integration into healthcare systems and workflows Strong communication skills and ability to interact with business stakeholders at varying levels in the organization Able to understand/define business problem statements clearly Multiple domain specialties in data and analytics Understands statistical and ML/AL algorithms and how different parameters impact outcomes Working knowledge of emerging cloud AI platforms and vendor’s analytics offerings Have broad experience and expertise working with various technologies such as Python, SQL, R, SAS, AWS Sagemaker, Snowflake, Fiddler, Microsoft Azure, Tableau and other frameworks and libraries for AI Able to work on a team in person and in a collaborative virtual setting; self-motivated, self-directed, adaptable Proven experience working in a regulated environment with quality systems which includes strong documentation skills, experience with Software-as-a-Medical Device a plus Experience with software development life cycle, Waterfall, Agile and Dev/Ops methodologies Requisition ID: 591766 As a leader in medical science for more than 40 years, we are committed to solving the challenges that matter most – united by a deep caring for human life.
