Reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for Intercollegiate Athletics, the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing & External Operations will be responsible for promoting and enhancing the image of the RIT Center for Intercollegiate Athletics throughout the local, regional, state, and national level and increase visibility of the program through all available means in today’s widely diverse media outlets. This position will be responsible for assisting with building revenue generation, game day atmosphere, branding, and campus outreach engagement. The incumbent will direct, develop, initiate, and support strategies that drive revenue, increase attendance, and enhance in-game and fan experiences. In addition, the Associate Athletics Director will lead and direct corporate partnerships, marketing, advertising, branding, and promotions and assist the Executive Director of Athletics with alumni relations. The Associate Athletics Director collaborates with the University’s spirit groups, student affairs, alumni relations, institutional advancement, marketing, and communications.
Responsibilities
Manage the Center for Intercollegiate Athletics Corporate Partnership Program in conjunction with the Executive Director of Athletics. Serve as the primary coordinator for all Athletic special Events (Sports Hall of Fame, Tiger Open Golf Tournament, Athletics Award Banquet, Midnight Madness, and Welcome Back Meeting). Serve as primary coordinator for mascot reservations (RITchie). Responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of comprehensive strategic marketing campaigns and promotions plan for all home athletic events for all sports programs to help increase revenue, ticket sales, and attendance. Coordinate marketing shoots (photo and video) and develop concepts for promotional materials, including but not limited to commercials, posters, schedule cards, flyers, and digital content. Execute and manage all community marketing plans, creative collateral, including but not limited to in-game and in-market activations, special events, and other miscellaneous items. Work with internal and external partners to execute digital and traditional advertising campaigns that increase event attendance and overall engagement of all athletic programs. Serve as the liaison to the RIT Sports Network to execute digital content for all web streams & events. Create a comprehensive campus outreach plan (focused on students) that utilizes best marketing practices to increase visibility, awareness, and attendance across all RIT athletic events. Manage yearly budget and programming center around Tiger Den events, in conjunction with campus life. Recruit, train, supervise, and manage day-to-day responsibilities of student employees and interns. Assist in compiling season wrap-ups for various sports, to include attendance analysis, promotion details, ticket promos, and expense. Assist with the management of all Center for Intercollegiate Athletics events and serve as one of the game administrators for all home events. Serve as the sports administrator for 3-4 varsity sport programs, to include overseeing yearly annual performance evaluation, monthly meetings, and ensuring management of sports program follows departmental, university, and conference guidelines. Represent the athletic department with university arenas staff for hockey team’s needs. Work with UA administrative staff to make final decisions regarding marketing, promotions, and special events. Participate on committees and professional development as appropriate. Other duties assigned by the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Required Qualifications Education/Experience: • Bachelor’s degree • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in athletic marketing, development/fundraising, or athletic administrator leadership. Skills: • Ability to foster relations with internal staff and student-athletes. • Impeccable integrity and demonstrated capacity to teach, coach, and communicate broadly with student athletes, colleagues, and the public; cultivate and sustain collegial relationships; build unity around difficult issues; be an active listener, facilitator, convener, and mediator. • Recognized as an effective advocate for the student-athlete experience and personally exhibit high ethical standards of conduct and confidentiality in managing confidential information. • Have a personal style that is professional, personable, approachable, and politically astute. • Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences. • Possess a deep understanding of a diverse student body and a demonstrated commitment to an inclusive environment that promotes and values diversity and cross-cultural experiences of its members. • Ability to establish, build, and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy, and honesty with diverse groups and individuals. • Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete welfare and mental and physical well-being. • Administratively self-sufficient and be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web applications. • Willingness to engage in learning opportunities regarding Deaf Culture and conversational American Sign Language (ASL).
