Software Imaging Configuration Specialist
Full-time Ashburn Consulting, a Small Business based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, specializes in providing network and network security solutions in complex environments to a select set of government and business clients. This labor category supports work related to Tier 3 support of endpoint computing. The general focus of the position is developing and maintaining standard endpoint device configuration (image) in accordance with the National Gallery’s standards and industry best practices in a hybrid ecosystem based on Microsoft Windows, Mac Operating Systems, and Mobile Devices. This position complements the Software Release Manager position and must be able to perform both roles interchangeably. Some of the key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Manage all aspects of the software imaging process. Develop master images and deployment procedures. Test new versions of operating systems and endpoint software for compatibility, performance optimization, and deployment. Work closely with the compliance manager to ensure security compliance of the new images and/or any updates to the existing images. Act as a backup for the Support Software Release Manager. Collaborate with the Support Software Release Manager on the development and validation of the software release process/technical procedures. Develop and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) checklists for imaging processes. Work with stakeholders for deployment/updates of the images. Handle communication, preparation, and training for image updates. Provide management reports on image release/update progress. Ensure security compliance for the supported applications and operating systems. Knowledge/Skills: Requires hands-on 5+ years of working knowledge in the following areas, in an environment with 1000+ Microsoft Windows and MacOS devices: Hands-on senior level experience with Microsoft and Mac OS. Hands-on senior level experience as an Ivanti Software Administrator for software configuration and security compliance of endpoint devices. Hands-on senior level experience with technologies involved in software and operating system deployment in a large enterprise. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, and endpoint performance management tools. Strong knowledge of endpoint security compliance and remediations. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to identify, research, and resolve simple to moderately complex technical support issues independently. Familiarity with the latest hardware platforms for endpoint computing. Self-motivated and takes initiative. (MCP) Microsoft Certified Professional or (MCSE) Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert. MAC Genius experience. Experience engineering support of Active Directory, DNS, and additional Microsoft, JAMF, and Ivanti technologies. Experience with Active Directory including AD forest migration, remediation, and consolidation, as well as a strong foundation in other directory service technologies including GPO, DNS, and DHCP. Hands-on experience designing and configuring Microsoft Windows and MAC End User technology including Antivirus, patch management, and other System Administration tools. Experience developing detailed Windows and MAC Administrative standards, design, and implementation documentation. Experience in capacity planning, performance monitoring, and maintenance.
