POSITION SUMMARY Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer, GSIRT-US to join the Corporate Infosec Division located in Reston, VA. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Site Reliability Engineering with the primary goal of improving our people and technology stack. We are looking for someone with fresh ideas, a proven ability to work with a team of geographically distributed engineers and able to creatively solve complex technical problems using software. The successful candidate will be a growth-minded professional that is passionate about building reliable products and can execute our mission across the organization. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the strategy for a team of DevOps engineers in automating and streamlining processes through the development of frameworks, implementation of standards, processes and controls in release and deployment activities. Perform R&D and update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art DevOps tools, CI/CD/CM trends and best practices with an eye toward improving existing solutions. Serve as the subject matter expert for CI/CD/CM tools. Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure leveraging infrastructure as code using Terraform. Containerize applications with Docker and orchestrate using Kubernetes. Strategize and collaborate with development teams to automate and streamline application deployment processes. Architect and implement metrics required to increase transparency in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Help break down work and contribute to road mapping sessions. Collaborate with development teams to streamline continuous integration and deployment processes. Architect and implement automation by identifying and eliminating manual tasks and enhance the system functionality using Python or equivalent. Serve as technical lead in identifying and planning out detailed projects based on direct collaboration with business stakeholders. Work collaboratively with globally distributed projects and operational teams to ensure consistent approaches to program delivery. Identify solutions for platform engineering problems involving heavy creativity and innovation, sometimes involving open areas of research. Identify, analyze, coordinate, and resolve environmental and infrastructure needs. Interface with internal and external customers to deploy solutions and deliver workshops to educate and empower them. Provide user training and troubleshooting for software solutions and offer technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members. Prepare and present briefings on software solutions tailored to varying levels of technical expertise. Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above. QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION Your qualifications and experience should include: Minimum 7 years of technical experience in DevOps. Minimum 3+ years technical team leadership and experience in information security and/or computer science. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, applied information technology or related subject matter. Experience working in large-scale AWS cloud environment. Experience of working in a challenging work environment and track record of meeting project timelines. Experience leading a DevOps transformation across the pillars of people, process, and technology. Expert in change management and optimizing for predictable releases. Familiar with secret management using tools like Hashicorp Vault and AWS Secrets Manager. Extensive experience in container-based environments, including design & administration of container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and ECS. Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines across multiple tools, such as Terraform, Packers, GitLab, Jenkins. Familiar with automating application security controls using techniques such as SCA, SAST, DAST, and supply chain management. Strong experience with scaling Observability in an organization. Demonstrated experience creating and/or maintaining continuous integration/continuous deployment/automated configuration management systems. Strong background in Linux/Unix administration. Strong understanding of the software development life cycle, specifically design, debugging, testing and documentation. Excellent detail-oriented organizational and communications skills. Strong grasp of at least one programming language (JavaScript, Python preferred). All candidates must be authorized to work in the US. The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $165,000 to $195,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.
