About the Role: The Portfolio Manager/Trader role will be part of Structured Products Group group and be responsible for portfolio management, research, and trading of a broad array of asset classes, including residential mortgage backed securities (MBS) , commercial mortgage back securities (CMBS), asset-backed securities (ABS), and derivatives across both agency and non-agency markets. You will support our multi-asset credit and diversified fixed income strategies, as well as any structured credit-specific mandates. You will work closely with senior leadership and structured credit analysts and traders to inform decisions, manage portfolio risk, and produce consistent risk-adjust returns. You will also participate in the innovation and implementation of a growing product area within our global fixed income business. You will drive the following responsibilities: Contribute to the design, construction, and management of portfolio strategies that include investments in agency and non-agency securities across the credit spectrum Perform daily portfolio management tasks including implementing security selection while identifying alpha-generating investment opportunities and strategies to manage risk Take leadership role in trading securitized book of business (MBS, CMBS, ABS) and drive value through best practices, technological improvements and scale. Work in close collaboration with centralized trading team Using substantial prior experience and deep network develop and own NTAM’s relationships with the street to insure best execution, liquidity and firm’s access to products, structuring, and new issue markets Navigate and assess portfolio positioning, performance, key risks, and compliance parameters Ensure performance targets are consistently met Conduct ongoing research and stay abreast of structured products related and macro data that informs portfolio construction and management decisions Contribute to the innovation of the Structured Credit team’s processes and products Actively collaborate, communicate, and share knowledge regularly with internal and external partners, including wealth and institutional clients Initiate improvements to the quality, reliability, and efficiency of the systems you utilize in your decision making Incorporate the methods and best practices used by the broader investment community to constantly learn and evolve our processes The Minimum Qualifications We Find Valuable: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in research, portfolio management and/or trading within securitized products and strategies: ABS, CMBS, RMBS and derivatives Experience with quantitative investment, portfolio construction, management, and attribution Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills Analytical, highly logical, and structured thinker and communicator Desire and ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently Working knowledge of Aladdin, Yield Book, Intex, and Trepp or other related analytical platforms a strong plus Experience and knowledge of one or more of the trading platforms – Tradeweb, Bloomberg, Aladdin, CRD or others is a must CFA, MBA or other advanced degree in finance/statistics, etc. Experience in VBA, Python, SQL or other programming language is a plus Working with Us: As a Northern Trust partner, greater achievements await.
