Senior Manager, Resilient Fisheries, West Coast

This position can be performed 100% remotely or out of EDF's San Francisco, CA office on a hybrid arrangement. Program/Project/Team Overview: Healthy oceans are the lifeblood of our planet. But they're in peril - from climate change, overfishing, habitat destruction and other threats. That's why EDF's Climate Resilient Fisheries & Oceans team is working to safeguard the oceans and protect nature while feeding the planet, creating more secure livelihoods, and bolstering more equitable societies for human well-being. One of the greatest threats to the oceans is overfishing, which is why our dedicated team of scientists, economists, and fishery management experts are collaborating with partners around the globe to make sustainable fishing the norm. Overall Function: The Senior Manager, Resilient Fisheries will play a key role in advancing solutions for sustainable, profitable and resilient fisheries and fishing communities, with a focus on the U.S. West coast. They will collaborate internally across EDF and externally with diverse stakeholders, policymakers, community leaders, and scientists to co-develop strategies for climate resilience. Responsibilities include:
Identifying, building and managing relationships with key stakeholders. Planning and facilitating outreach and exchanges with key partners. Leading resilience-related advocacy efforts. Identifying new opportunities. Conducting research on key topics related to fisheries and oceans science, management, climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience. Communicating relevant findings, best practices, and emerging research with teams across EDF. Developing and executing key pieces of EDF's strategy to advance climate resilient fisheries and communities along the West Coast. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marine Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Political Science or another related field; Advanced degree preferred. At least eight (8) years of relevant experience in fisheries and oceans science and management, or an advanced degree with six (6) or more years of direct experience. Deep knowledge in fisheries science, policy, and management required. Experience working on issues related to fisheries/oceans technologies and climate adaptation/mitigation/resilience. Ability to engage US regional fishery management councils and NOAA Fisheries. Experience in project management and exceptional personal organization. Strong analytical skills and experience performing rigorous analysis. Excellent written and public speaking skills. Demonstrated ability to forge collaborations and work in effective partnerships. Proficiency in the use of PCs and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to travel (largely domestically) as needed. Hiring Range: We offer a strong total rewards package encompassing competitive salary, robust benefits, and professional development opportunities.
