Job Description:
As the
Controller
for BW Papersystems, you will oversee the financial operations of the Cockeysville, MD manufacturing site, ensuring that accurate financial data is available to support business decision-making. You will lead a team of 3 finance professionals, managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting. The Controller will work closely with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to provide financial insights and contribute to strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies. Prepare and present financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis. Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights into performance variances and recommending corrective actions. Develop and maintain cost accounting systems for the manufacturing site to track production costs and analyze profitability by product line. Monitor and control expenses to ensure budget compliance and identify cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with site leadership to develop financial strategies and business plans that drive operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal financial regulations. Work with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion of audits. Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Utilize ERP systems for financial reporting and analysis; ensure accuracy of data within the system. Assist with ad-hoc financial analyses and special projects as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred. 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance. Strong understanding of cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting in a manufacturing context. Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing a finance team.
