Job Description Summary: Our client is seeking a Risk Management and Conflicts Attorney to join their team under the direction of the General Counsel. This role will involve reviewing, analyzing, and resolving legal risks for the firm, particularly focusing on complex conflict matters, including lateral attorney clearances, preservation holds, claims against the firm, document review, and ethical screen issues. The attorney will collaborate closely with the General Counsel and Risk Management team to ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures, specifically related to risk management and business intake. This full-time, exempt position can be based in any of the firm’s U.S. offices. Job Description: Review, analyze, and provide advice on complex and confidential conflict matters related to business intake and lateral hire onboarding. Facilitate communication among attorneys to resolve ethical and business conflicts with diplomacy and discretion. Work with the General Counsel, Risk Attorneys, and Director of Risk Management to develop and refine internal risk policies and procedures. Research and stay informed on legal ethics, court rulings, regulatory matters, and risk management developments that could impact the firm. Advise and train attorneys and staff on ethical, conflict, and compliance issues, including new rules and regulations. Review, analyze, and provide guidance on language for risk policies, procedures, letters, disclosures, and waivers. Draft and review conflict waivers, engagement letters, and other documents to ensure alignment with ethical rules and firm policies. Assess terms of engagement and outside counsel guidelines, identifying issues that need further review for business and compliance reasons. Assist the lateral hire team in identifying, escalating, and resolving conflict and onboarding issues. Support the ethical screening process for clients, laterals, and staff. Handle client and third-party inquiries, including reviewing attorney bios and questionnaires. Contribute to special projects as directed by the General Counsel or Director of Risk Management. Perform other related duties as assigned. Desired Skills and Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of the rules of professional responsibility, including multiple U.S. state and international jurisdictions where the firm’s clients are based. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex legal conclusions to attorneys and staff, and provide confident advice to management on risk matters. Advanced understanding of law firm conflicts and the business intake process. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple projects on tight timelines. 5+ years of law firm experience is preferred. Experience in the IP, high-tech, and biotech/life sciences sectors is a plus. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in the state of residence and/or the state where the work will be performed. Compensation and Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $159,000 - $207,000. The final salary will depend on factors such as the candidate's qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and location.
